Our Vision is to...

   Instill a passion for Learning.

Inspire a life of Christian Service.

   Ignite the Imagination.

Bethany students are so blessed to study in God’s Word everyday.  We will spend time learning from the Bible and Luther’s Small catechism.  Not only will the students continue to develop and grow in their faith, but we will begin to lay the ground work for their confirmation program.  We will share how we can apply our faith to our daily lives to develop a closer relationship to the Lord.

Middle school students will read a wide range of materials.  They will continue to practice the skills they have previously acquired to improve on their fluency, vocabularies and reading accuracies.  Students will also put emphasis on different comprehension strategies to compare, contrast and integrate information from the texts.  They will begin to analyze how the structure, point of view, and figurative language can add to the tone or meaning of the text.  As their skills develop, they will begin to identify themes and draw inferences supported by details in the texts they read.

In writing, students will learn how to group information together in a logical order, improve their vocabularies, and use narrative techniques like dialogue, description, and development of characters.  They will improve their mechanical skills by revising, editing and rewriting compositions. They will also learn to summarize their information into notes that can be used in the writing process.
