One of the highlights in sixth grade, is “Outdoor Education Week” or Environmental camp.   In Religion, the students spend time studying Jesus’ teachings as written in the Gospel of Matthew.  English is a combination of work in grammar and writing skills.  The students read and respond to stories from the student anthology in Reading, as well as participate in the Accelerated Reading program.  Bethany is a departmentalized school, and the students visit other teachers for Science/Health, P.E., Music, Art, and Spelling.  Sixth grade Math focuses a lot of time and energy with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.  The students also work with geometric principles, and basic data display.  The Social Studies course has the students briefly examining the history and people of North America, South America, Asia, and Europe.
