SPEECH / LANGUAGE / HEARING SERVICES

All children new to Bethany Lutheran School are screened for language/speech problems. Children referred by the professional staff, parents, or physicians are given a threshold hearing test. For students identified with speech, language, or hearing problems, the therapist plans an individualized follow-up program and maintains on-going parent and teach contact.

 

PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING AND COUNSELING

A school psychologist is available fore individual testing and counseling.

REMEDIAL PROGRAM

Individual and small group instruction is provided for children with special needs on all grade levels. A teacher certified in special education gives remedial and supportive instruction.

 

LEARNING DISABILITY PROGRAM (LD)

When the educational needs of some students are reviewed by the teaching staff, additional testing may be done by the school psychologist. Some students may qualify for individualized service plans, taught by the LD tutor.
