Mrs. Gloria Knauss received her degree from Cleveland State University in Elementary Education. She holds a BS in Community Leisure Services from Slippery Rock University and a AS from Kellogg Community College (MI) in Science.

Mrs. Knauss has 15 years of experience teaching outdoor education, has been a long term substitute teacher at Bethany, and has taught 2 years of kindergarten at Royal Redeemer Lutheran School. In addition, she taught for 3 years at the Cleveland Natural History Museum.

Mrs. Knauss has two children, both graduates of Bethany. Her husband, Daryl, teaches high school science and is also a Bethany graduate. She is a member of LEA (Lutheran Education Association) and enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family.

In second grade, students will continue to improve their reading, writing and mathematical skills. We will utilize the Accelerated Reader program to test our comprehension skills, Singapore Math to broaden our mathematic knowledge, and begin using cursive writing to complete our assignments.

Second Grade

Inside 2nd Grade

Science and Social Studies, the study of the world around us, will be included in our daily lessons through hands on activities, stories, and research projects. I feel it is important to incorporate the Bible and the teachings of the Lutheran faith into every area of the students' life including the curriculum, the lunchroom, the playground, after school activities, and their time with family and friends.

Mrs. Knauss is Bethany's

Athletic Director and enjoys coaching basketball, volleyball, softball

and track.

Field trips in second grade will include the Fire Safety House, pond life at the nature center, and a trip to the zoo to learn about the various habitats of the world.
